The Inevitable Couple

The next thing I remember everyone, that is me, Jerry, Jude and Paul were standing inside my little hallway that serves as the epicentre of my apartment. Pleasantries were being exchanged, I introduced them to Jude as my two old school friends. I shook Paul’s hand, and he sent me his daft smile, that I guess somehow Jerry had fallen in love with, and then Jerry and I kissed each other on the cheek.

It was an electric moment. In that briefest of times my face touched hers, I could smell the soft fragrance from the her powdery foundation, I felt I could feel the tiny hairs on the side of her cheek, I felt a feeling of warmth in the centre of my cheek that rapidly spread out to heat my whole self. I think I stood there motionless, it was as if I was in the presence of an angel who had just stepped into my apartment. Only Paul handing me his jacket broke the trance, then he helped Jerry out of her long, white wool coat, underneath which she wore a black dress covered and covered in sparkling sequins. Although I had seen her just the other day, seeing her now, it was like she had suddenly become a woman. Perhaps, the woman I never imagined her to be. I guess I had rehearsed in my mind this moment. Yes I had rehearsed it over and over again, but now it was here it wasn’t as I expected. There was something much more grown up about this moment. Now things seemed more serious and important than ever before.

Lucas Part II

If you want to read Part I of this story involving a clearly unreconstructed view of women then first go here.

He tells Luigi he will call him back to run through a few fine details later, but he has some urgent business to attend to, and quickly puts the phone down. Lucas wipes his brow with his hand. Dave from Finance is still grinning like a Cheshire Cat over the partition, his eyes repetitively flitting from Lucas and then in the direction of reception.

« Well, go on then, » says Dave.

« Go on, what? » replies Lucas.

« Well go on and see what they want. »

Lucas wheels back his office chair and spins it round, then stands up, as he does so he can see the girls there are lined up towering over Janie the receptionist. Who it has to be said has a face like thunder at this particular moment. Janie was once a very pretty girl herself, in fact she still is, it’s just in the five years since she came to work here at Thrushton Industrial Supplies she as gone from a petite size 10 to a less than petite size 18. It doesn’t usually stop her beaming a winning smile at any man who comes here on business, but clearly this doesn’t extend to five Barbie doll lookalikes.

By the time Lucas has made it to the door that separates the partitioned office area from the reception area, most of the office staff have crept up behind him to various degrees, obviously trying to firstly get a view of the five girls whose presence here to see plain old Lucas has spread like the proverbial wildfire, and secondly to see how this most unlikely of situations is about to evolve.

Lucas opens the door with his heart in his mouth and crosses the reception area.

« Lucas! » barks Janie. « You have visitors. »

The girls as if they are connected somehow seem to rotate their hips and bodies in some kind of synchronised movement as Lucas approaches. Each one in turn throwing their head back and pouting seductively.

Helpfully, the five of them are in line, as if lined up in some kind of pre-arranged order. Each of them in turn then says « Lucas » in their own welcoming and alluring manner. « Lou-cas », « Looooo-ca », « Lucasssss », « Loouke » and finally « Lucaaaaas? ». When they finished that sychronised body and hip sway flows through the five of them once again, as they do so Janie looks away with a combination of disgust and attempted disinterest.

Lucas approaches but stops about two metres from Janie’s desk and the five girls. The first in the line has long, straight ginger-brunette coloured hair topped off with a silver coloured thin hairband. She is dressed in a two piece spangled sky blue outfit, mini-skirt with a near complete side split matched with a halter necked sleevless top which comes half way down her body, leaving her abdomen free. Sky blue half knee length boots to finish. Her dark eyes light up and her ultra-bright smile fades as she speaks softly.

« We’re here Lou-cas. »

As she speaks the girls start to edge forward.

There was a party

It was a night full of unforgettable moments. Looking back now, you could maybe say

                                                                                                                                                    that it was all inevitable,

but every day of our lives in some way has an inevitability about it. I really should have thought things would have turned out this way. Not just for me, but for Francesca and Jude, for Bill, for Harvey, for our new found Goddess Miranda, and for Jerry and Paul, since after all they were the original inevitable couple. Let me take you there now, and you can read for yourself how the night unfolded.
